MAKING THE BEST CHOICE FOR LOS OLIVOS

The most important decision our community will make regarding the future of Los Olivos, and our wastewater specifically, is which governance option we choose.  After we choose the governance option best suited for our community, our next choice will be the treatment technology that will handle our wastewater and water reclamation needs.

There are a number of treatment options available to the Los Olivos community, from individual on-site supplemental treatment, to a Los Olivos community-based small footprint packaged plant (which can fit in a shed), and a potential for regional treatment plant options that may be available in the future.

With the information available to us and the pressures our community is receiving from new regulations, the Los Olivos Steering Committee currently believes that a local treatment option is likely the most viable and economical option.

It's important that our community has all of the information on the options before us so we can make the best decisions for our town.

The Steering Committee has conducted a focused feasibility exercise and is now requesting that Santa Barbara County Environmental Health further their study of Los Olivos and conduct a Focused Feasibility Study to give the Los Olivos community important details regarding costs, estimated timetable and overall feasibility in order to choose our best path forward.
